Amazon Retail Analytics is Showing Incorrect Data

Updated: Aug 20, 2018

Amazon updated their data reporting site, Amazon Retail Analytics (ARA), in late April 2018. At first the ARA portal was missing entire reports. Over the course of 3-4 weeks, Amazon rolled out a wider range of reports (some of them were missing data and others were showing false numbers).

In the last 2 weeks, we have noticed that Amazon's sales data is incorrect. Downloading the same exact report will sometimes give different values for Shipped Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).

When asked about the issues, Amazon responded with:

"Rest assured, we will look into it and get back to you at the earliest with an update.
We appreciate your patience with us.
Thank you for doing business with us.
Best regards,"

Although the new reporting system has its faults, there are new features available to Vendors who pay for ARA Premium.

By toggling between the "manufacturer" and "distributor" views, vendors can see how much of their inventory is being sourced from other vendors.

The new traffic report shows changes in glance views and changes in conversion rate. If you see drop in these metrics, it may indicate products to incorporate into AMS, and which products may need detail page enhancements (better images, text, video, A+), or would benefit from promotions.
